What ENM-Affirming Therapy Looks Like With Me

Working with clients in ENM relationships means holding space for complexity, communication and care, not judgement or prescription. My practice is rooted in the NASW Code of Ethics and informed by the Committee on Consensual Non-Monogamy, both of which emphasize dignity, respect, and client self-determination.

In our sessions, you can expect:

  • A non-judgmental, informed space to explore your values, desires, and boundaries

  • Support in improving communication and emotional regulation within and between relationships

  • Tools for navigating jealousy, comparison, and attachment needs through a trauma-informed lens

  • A deeper understanding of consent and autonomy as foundations of healthy connection

  • Exploration of internalized stigma or relationship shame and how to move toward self-acceptance

  • Collaboration, not hierarchy. You are the expert on your relationships; my role is to support insight, growth, and relational balance.

Therapy isn’t about telling you how to structure your relationships. Working with me will help you build the awareness, skills, and confidence to sustain them in ways that feel healthy, grounded, and authentic to you.

What Relationship-Affirming Therapy Means

Whether you’re navigating ethical non-monogamy (ENM), exploring the idea, or simply redefining what healthy connection means to you, therapy should be a space where your relationships are respected. Too often, people in non-traditional relationships encounter misunderstanding, stigma, or pathologizing language from clinicians unfamiliar with relationship diversity.

As an ENM-affirming therapist and member of the ENM community, I follow the recommendations of the Committee on Consensual Non-Monogamy which promotes inclusive, ethical, and research-based approaches to relationship diversity. My goal is to create a supportive, informed environment where you can explore your values, strengthen communication, and cultivate relationships that align with your authentic self without shame or assumption.

Relationship-affirming therapy helps you build trust, navigate complexity, and foster intimacy rooted in consent and respect. It’s not about fitting into a mold. It’s about helping you define and nurture connection on your own terms.

Why Relationship-Affirming Therapy Matters

People in ethically non-monogamous relationships often face misunderstanding not just from society, but sometimes from within the therapy room itself. Many clients arrive after experiences where they had to educate their therapist, defend their values, or navigate subtle judgment about their relationship choices.

Affirming therapy changes that. It creates a space where your relationships, communication styles, and needs are understood as valid and worthy of care. It’s about cultivating emotional safety, a foundation that allows for real growth and healing.

In our work together, you can:

  • Develop the language and tools to communicate your needs clearly and compassionately

  • Navigate conflict and emotional triggers with confidence and curiosity

  • Strengthen your capacity for vulnerability and trust across multiple relationships

  • Explore attachment and intimacy through an affirming, trauma-informed lens

  • Reclaim your right to define love, family, and connection on your own terms

Your relationships don’t have to look “traditional” to be healthy or meaningful. You deserve therapy that honors the complexity of your love and helps you thrive within it.

Whether you’re new to ethical non-monogamy or have been practicing it for years, this is a space to explore, reflect, and strengthen your relationships with compassion and clarity.

If you’re ready to connect with a therapist who understands the nuances of relationship diversity and offers affirming, ethical care, I’d love to work with you.
